About Us
The Politics, Philosophy & Economics (PPE) Club at Northwood University is a student-led organization dedicated to examining the forces that influence policy, society, and the global economy. We bring together students from all majors who are curious about how political systems function, why philosophical ideas matter, and how economic decisions impact everyday life. The club creates a space for open discussion, critical thinking, and respectful conversation, giving students the opportunity to explore complex issues from multiple perspectives.
Our Mission
The mission of the PPE Club is to cultivate informed, thoughtful leaders who can analyze problems, challenge assumptions, and contribute meaningfully to discussions about public policy, ethics, business, and society. We aim to foster a campus environment where diverse viewpoints are welcomed and students feel empowered to engage in civil, constructive dialogue.
What We Do
Discussions & Debates
We host meetings where members dive into current events, political trends, ethical dilemmas, and economic topics. These discussions are open-format, allowing students to express their ideas, ask questions, and hear perspectives they may not encounter in class.
Guest Speakers & Panels
The club invites professors, industry professionals, policy experts, and alumni to speak about real-world issues in government, law, ethics, philosophy, and economics. These sessions give students valuable insight into potential career paths and deeper academic understanding.
Trips & Educational Experiences
Depending on scheduling and interest, the club may offer trips to government institutions, think tanks, museums, hearings, or local events to give students hands-on exposure to public affairs and civic engagement.
Collaborations With Other Clubs
The PPE Club frequently partners with other student organizations to host cross-disciplinary events, roundtable discussions, or service projects related to ethics, public policy, or social issues.
