Overview
Goals
Our goals are to develop studentsโ insights and knowledge of the finance industry through activities and networking events, to promote the finance curriculum amongst the Northwood University students and faculty, and to create an awareness throughout the industry of Northwoodโs finance program.
The Finance Association of Northwood University is a student organization focused on helping members gain a deeper understanding of finance while building professional skills and connections. Our goal is to provide students with opportunities to explore finance beyond the classroom, whether itโs through learning about investment strategies, understanding financial markets, or developing critical skills that prepare them for careers in business and finance.
Members of the Finance Association meet monthly to engage in discussions, workshops, and activities that enhance their knowledge and keep them up to date on current trends in the financial world. These meetings also provide a platform to network with peers, alumni, and industry professionals, allowing students to build meaningful connections that can benefit them during college and beyond.
Our students have the chance to put their knowledge into practice through competitions and real-world challenges. For example, we were finalists at the ACG Cup, a valuation competition held in February, and also finalists at the RMA Lending Challenge in October. These experiences allow students to apply classroom concepts in a competitive environment, gain hands-on experience, and showcase their skills on a larger stage.
Overall, the Finance Association is a space for students who want to grow professionally, expand their knowledge of finance, and connect with like-minded peers and industry leaders while actively engaging in opportunities that go beyond typical coursework.
In addition, FANU coordinates the following events in conjunction with the Northwoodโs finance program:
- Annual trip to New York City and tour of the New York Stock Exchange
- Annual Financial Leadership Summit event
- Northwood team(s) in the RMA Commercial Lending Challenge
- Northwood team(s) in the ACG Cup Competition
- Northwood Universityโs Timberwolf Investment Fund
Financial Leadership Summit
A yearly event that brings in finance professionals among the industry to network with Northwood finance students. Event is free to NU students and includes a panel, round table networking, and a lunch.
Finance Association of Northwood University is a group designed to give students professional networking opportunities, gain a deeper understanding of how to properly invest, and learning more about finance outside of the classroom.
