You can register for classes through the My.Northwood student portal. After logging in, go to the Self-Service section and select Academics -> Student Planning -> Plan & Schedule to view available classes for the upcoming term.
Before registering, make sure to check your degree plan and connect with your academic advisor to ensure youโre choosing the right courses. Once your schedule is finalized and approved, you can submit your registration directly in the portal. After registering, youโll see your courses appear in Blackboard at the start of the semester. If you run into any issues, contact the Registrarโs Office or your advisor for help.
Northwood is an all-business university, specializing in programs like accounting, management, and finance. We also offer unique degrees in the automotive sector, as well as health care management and esports management.
The normal course load for Northwood undergraduate students is 15 to 16 credit hours per semester. Students who wish to enroll for more than 18 credits per semester, must apply to the Academic Dean for permission to take an overload.
Yes! While you cannot design your own major, you can double major at Northwood and we recommend students to do so. Within the enhanced curriculum of 120 credit hours for each major, you have more choice electives. This makes double majors or minors easier, and you can enhance your value profile with additional specializations.
Northwood University offers a personalized classroom experience with an 8:1 student-to-faculty ratio. Our small class sizes will ensure that you donโt get lost in the crowd.
Northwood Universityโs residential campus has an on-site tutoring center, named the Timberwolf Learning Center (TLC). This center provides a variety of free services to help students succeed and excel at Northwood University.
Northwood has specific requirements for curriculum. A major consists of completing all required major courses (a minimum of 24 credits) within the curriculum. A minor consists of six three-credit courses (18 credits) within a major where at least three courses (nine credits) are in courses at the 3000 or 4000 level (junior and senior level courses).
While there are very few general education requirements, Northwood allows freshmen to start their major on day-one, skipping the fluff and getting you right into the mix of classes you need to succeed.
The professors at Northwood University all come from real companies and are industry-experienced. They bring a variety of modern and forward-looking business strategies into their lectures. Most professors offer hands-on learning opportunities outside of traditional lecture halls.
Yes! Honors courses place more emphasis on class participation and discussion-based learning. By offering a variety of learning experiences, honors courses encourage collaborative learning, offer experiences outside the classroom, seek frequent faculty-student interaction and accelerate student intellectual growth.
Admission to the Honors Program from high school requires one of the following conditions:
- 3.25 Cumulative GPA (CGPA) with 25 ACT/1210 SAT or 3.50 Cumulative GPA (CGPA) with no test score.
- Transfer students may register for Honors classes if they have a 3.25 GPA from the transferring institution.
In order to apply for graduation, you must complete a minimum of 120 semester hours, including 30 semester hours of academic credit at Northwood University. You must also successfully complete the program requirements with an overall cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better.
