Northwood University’s Competitive Speech Team delivered a strong performance at the 2025 Michigan Intercollegiate Speech League Fall Championship Dec. 6 at Saginaw Valley State University, earning multiple individual honors and placing among the top teams overall.
“These students prepared with purpose, competed with confidence, and represented Northwood with professionalism,” stated Coach Mark Marciniak. “I’m proud of the way they represented Northwood at this competitive championship.”
Mathilde Champagne earned the Top Novice Award in Poetry, finishing No. 4 in that event. She placed No. 3 in Individual Sweepstakes. Overall, Northwood placed No. 5 in Team Sweepstakes.
Other Northwood students who ranked at the fall tournament included Excellent Abikphi, who placed No. 4 in Persuasive Speaking and No. 5 in Impromptu Speaking, and Breanne Pratley, who placed No. 5 in Persuasive Speaking and No. 6 in Impromptu Speaking.
