Northwood University’s Mock Trial program made a strong showing at a tournament sponsored by the University of Wisconsin, where two Northwood teams competed against a nationally respected field and earned multiple individual awards.

Northwood’s more experienced team earned trial victories against Hillsdale College and St. Olaf, split ballots against Washington University, and narrowly fell to the University of Minnesota. The second Northwood team secured a win against St. Olaf and competed closely in trials against Washington University, Hillsdale, and Case Western Reserve University.

In addition to the team performances, three Northwood students received individual recognition for their courtroom excellence. Julian Lee and Conrad Waldie were each honored with an Outstanding Witness Award, while Barrett Tefft earned an Outstanding Attorney Award.

“These results reflect the dedication, preparation, and professionalism our students bring to every competition,” said Northwood Mock Trial Coach Dr. DeLois Leapheart. “I am proud of how both teams represented Northwood at Wisconsin.”

Other students who competed at the University of Wisconsin tournament included Aaron Harvey, Denilson Hernandez, Dereon Campbell, Evan Baker, Evelyn Wells, Gabriel Laske, Johnathan Schwegler, Maze Gusa, Parker Maples, Reagan Coffee, and Winston Wilcox.

“We are grateful to Assistant Coaches Jacob Walters and Stephen Dunn, who traveled with the teams and provided invaluable guidance throughout the tournament,” Leapheart said.
