Northwood requires a minimum 2.0 GPA to be admitted and does not require test scores for acceptance. However, your GPA and test scores will help you earn different types of merit scholarships.

GPA and test scores do not paint the whole picture when it comes to your academic journey. We highly encourage you to submit an application and talk through some of your extracurriculars, sports, or volunteer activities!

It is crucial to complete your application and send in your transcripts. Unofficial transcripts can be used for admission. If you are a traditional student and want to try for our higher-level scholarships, you will also want to submit your SAT and/or ACT score.

Northwood offers dual enrollment credits to earn towards a future degree. If you take dual enrollment at another school, you can check our course comparisons on our website. For AP credit, you must score a 3 for that credit to transfer in and a 4 on the IB testing.

Northwood University offers several merit‑based scholarships for incoming freshmen, such as Presidential, Freedom, Free Enterprise, Entrepreneur, and Liberty awards. These scholarships range from $7,000 to $15,000 annually, based on GPA and test scores.

Competitive awards include the Naegele Scholarship (via video essay) and team-based scholarships for speech, mock trial, and esports participants. We also offer several business organization scholarships for those involved in DECA, BPA, and TPUSA. Many of these scholarships are renewable with sufficient GPA and some are enhanced by residency status.

Most institutionally funded scholarships are renewable for up to 8 semesters. The FAFSA needs to be completed each academic year. Based on the FAFSA, awards can change if there has been changes within your family’s financial situation.

Northwood offers workshops and webinars during the academic year to help students with budgeting and guides to make good financial decisions.
