Northwood earned recognition for programs in specialized sales and marketing, business administration, management and other business fields.

College Factual, a widely cited data-driven ranking organization in American higher education, bases its rankings primarily on data from federal sources, including the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and the College Scorecard, rather than subjective reputation surveys. Where some rankings reward name recognition, College Factual’s methodology considers graduation rates, post-graduation earnings, student debt, institutional resources and performance relative to other qualifying programs.

Against that rigorous, numbers-first standard, College Factual places Northwood in the top 15% of comparable schools across the Midwest.

“College Factual’s emphasis on student outcomes aligns beautifully with Northwood’s commitment to rigorous, relevant education,” said Academic Vice President and Provost Dr. Kristin Stehouwer. “This recognition reflects the work of our faculty and the value of our academic programs, which prepare students to contribute meaningfully to their professions and communities.”

College Factual’s Great Lakes region includes colleges and universities in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, making Northwood’s placement a meaningful representation of where it stands among Michigan schools and across this significant American higher education corridor.

Northwood earned top placements among various Michigan associate and bachelor’s degree programs evaluated by College Factual, including recognition for its sales, marketing, general business administration and management programs. Across the Great Lakes region, Northwood also earned recognition in College Factual’s overall college rankings and its rankings for specialized sales, merchandising and marketing rankings.

“Employers tell us the same thing year after year: they need graduates who can lead, not just graduates who can define leadership,” said Academic Dean Dr. Stacey Tetloff. “Our students are given responsibility, casework and mentorship well before graduation, and they are immersed in experiential learning throughout their college careers. These experiences prepare them to enter the workforce with confidence and make meaningful contributions.”

The College Factual rankings arrive on the heels of Northwood earning high honors from Forbes in its 2026 College Financial Grades. Northwood stood apart from the nearly 1,000 not-for-profit colleges and universities evaluated by Forbes, earning an A- in a landscape where more than half of the schools received a C or worse. One factor contributing to Northwood’s high standing among the financially strongest private universities in the nation is the institution’s guiding philosophy, The Northwood Idea, which emphasizes the importance of freedom, personal responsibility, limited government, moral law, rule of law, earned success and free enterprise.

“As America’s Free Enterprise University, Northwood was founded on the conviction that principled leadership, personal responsibility, and a rigorous business education prepare graduates to lead in any industry they choose,” said Enrollment and Strategic Alliances Vice President Dr. Matthew Bennett. “Combined, these latest recognitions tell a consistent story: Northwood is delivering the outcomes its students and their families are counting on.”
