Northwood University students invite members of the community to participate in a pickleball tournament fundraiser on Dec. 5, 2025, at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.
The Northwood Sport Promotional Management Association’s Pickleball Tournament, presented by Frick’s Sports Bar at the Greater Midland Tennis Center, will be a friendly and fast-paced tournament that brings together students, faculty, and community members for an evening of competition and camaraderie — all while supporting hands-on learning opportunities for future sport industry professionals.
“The Pickleball Tournament is another example of our students creating and managing a real-world event that builds both community engagement and professional experience,” said Dave Marsh, who chairs Northwood’s Sport Management degree program.“Events like this teach them to coordinate logistics, work with sponsors, and promote participation — all vital skills for their future careers.”
The tournament, which begins at 4 p.m. Dec. 5, will follow a doubles format, and players of all skill levels — from first-time participants to seasoned competitors — are encouraged to join. Registration is $40 per team, with each team guaranteed four games, a tournament T-shirt, and a $5 Frick’s Sports Bar gift card. Paddles will be available to rent for $5.
Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. All proceeds will help Northwood’s Sport Management program to continue providing students hands-on learning experiences through events, conferences, and industry partnerships.
Nov. 21 is the deadline for teams to register for the Dec. 5 SPMA Pickleball Tournament Presented by Frick’s Sports Bar. To register, visit gonorthwood.com/athletics/tickets.
