The University of the Aftermarket, through Northwood University, has a wide range of challenging coursework lined up for automotive professionals.
“Professional development is crucial, as is a commitment to life-long learning,” stated Dr. Thomas Litzinger, executive director of the University of the Aftermarket and Northwood University professor. “UofA is proud to offer programs for a wide range of professionals — from those who are early in their careers to those with executive-level positions.”
The following is a preview of upcoming programming:
Heavy Duty 101
Heavy Duty 101 is a two-day class on June 6-7 in Farmington Hills.
Sponsored in conjunction with MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers, this is for individuals who are new to the heavy-duty aftermarket industry or who require a more complete understanding of the heavy-duty market, its channels, challenges, and trends.
“Students who attend this class will leave with a firm understanding of the heavy-duty aftermarket’s breadth, depth and scope,” stated James O’Dell, assistant director of the University of the Aftermarket. “They will be able to differentiate and interpret the contributions of key industry players to our Industry.”
Heavy Duty Leadership 2.0
Heavy Duty Leadership 2.0 is a one-week intensive course that is set for July 16-20, also in Farmington Hills.
“Mid-level to upper-level managers in the heavy-duty aftermarket should attend this series as their leadership skills will be enhanced and developed,” Litzinger noted. “Professionals searching for direction and guidance on becoming a better leader and developing enriched communication and interpersonal skills and techniques should attend this series.”
The Heavy Duty Leadership 2.0 experience includes a blend of industry research and market analysis, lively discussion and debate on the challenges confronting the commercial vehicle aftermarket. Participants will identify strategies to distinguish their organizations from the competition and dominate the marketplace.
Aftermarket 101 — a two-day class — is set for Sept. 12-13 at AutoWares in Warren, Michigan.
This is for individuals who are new to the aftermarket industry or in a new role where a more complete understanding of the market, its channels, challenges, and trends would benefit them.
“Students who attend this class will learn the breadth, depth and scope of the aftermarket,” O’Dell stated. “They will understand the contributions made by key industry members in every segment of the aftermarket.”
Automotive Data Standards (ACPN)
Automotive Data Standards (ACPN) will be held in two sessions: The first June 19-20 in Farmington Hills, and the second Oct. 3-4 at a location to be determined.
This program was developed for aftermarket catalog managers and product information professionals who want to sharpen their knowledge and management of the industry data standards – ACES and PIES. This includes catalog managers, content managers, category managers, product data specialists, or any other roles working with aftermarket standards ACES and PIES.
“Students who attend this program will learn how to identify important digital content for products,” Litzinger explained. “They will become familiar with the Auto Care Standards databases and learn how to use the coded data from the Auto Care standards databases within ACES and PIES XML deliverables.”
Leadership 2.0 is a two-week intensive class that begins Aug. 20-24 in Midland, Michigan, and ends March 10-15 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
“Mid-level to upper-level managers in the aftermarket should attend this series as their leadership skills will be enhanced and developed,” O’Dell said. “Professionals looking to grow as a leader, achieve better results in 2023 and assess improved organizational culture techniques will benefit from this series.”
The Leadership 2.0 experience includes a blend of real-world industry knowledge, distinguished academic research, and spirited roundtable discussion applied to the challenges confronting the light vehicle aftermarket. Participants will identify strategies to distinguish their organizations from the competition and dominate the marketplace.
INFUSION ’23-24 is a two-week intensive that begins Oct. 15-19 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and ends May 5-10 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
