Northwood University students earned multiple top placements at the Oct. 9-10 Regional Sales Competition hosted by Saginaw Valley State University.

Sponsored by Builders FirstSource, the event featured top-performing business students from Northwood University, SVSU, the University of Michigan–Flint, and Eastern Michigan University. Over two days, competitors participated in professional sales challenges and networking sessions designed to simulate real-world client interactions.

“This competition provided our students with a chance to showcase their communication and strategic selling skills in a setting that mirrors real-world client interactions,” said Dr. Andrew Anderson, associate professor of marketing and sales and faculty advisor for Northwood’s American Marketing Association chapter. “Builders FirstSource’s sponsorship and engagement from regional employers provided students with valuable mentorship and professional exposure.”

For the first time, the competition included a Master’s Division, where Julian Lee, of Macomb, Michigan, captured first place in the division’s inaugural year.

In the Advanced Division, several Northwood students earned top placements:

  • Alexandria DeMitchell, of Freeland, Michigan, placed first in Discovery and Proposal, and second overall.
  • Mariah Thompson, of Houghton Lake, Michigan, placed second in Discovery, Proposal, and Closing.
  • Reagan Cordes, of Davison, Michigan, earned first in Voicemail Prospecting and second in multiple rounds.
  • Andrew Vogel, of Bad Axe, Michigan, earned second place in Discovery.

In the Novice Division, the following new Northwood competitors impressed judges:

  • Evelyn Wells, of Troy, Michigan, placed first in Discovery and Closing, and second in Proposal.
  • Michael Carlson, of Pentwater, Michigan, won Proposal and placed second in Discovery and Closing.
  • Denilson Hernandez, of Pontiac, Michigan, won LinkedIn Prospecting.
