Outstanding Business Leaders to be honored Saturday

A snapshot of this year’s class of Outstanding Business Leaders shows an eclectic and accomplished group of exceptional individuals who have significantly contributed to the business world and communities.

Honorees include:

• Vinnie “The Microwave” Johnson, a former NBA player who now presides over the Piston Group LLC, which produces nearly $3 billion in annual revenue.

• Michael and Dianne Morey, a couple who risked everything to launch Bandit Industries, a successful business based on an idea for a better woodchipper.

• Andres Lopez, the president and CEO of O-I Glass Inc., a company that specializes in container glass products and whose net worth exceeds $3.3 billion.

• Fred Bunting, the founder and chairman of Auto-Wares Group of Companies, a group of privately-held companies in the automotive car care industry with sales over $540 million.

• Gina Thorsen, CEO of Jacquart Fabric Products, Home of Stormy Kromer, which is approaching $15 million in annual revenue.

• Grant Baidas, owner of The Exchange Bar & Grill, Northville and recipient of this year’s Richard DeVos Young Entrepreneur Award.

“Northwood University is honored to recognize these accomplished individuals and celebrate their achievements,” stated Northwood President Kent MacDonald. “Each honoree serves as a mentor and inspiration for students and exemplifies leadership in business and entrepreneurship.”

The Outstanding Business Leader Awards will be presented during an April 15 gala at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn.
