Our Entrepreneur-in-Residence for Spring 2021

The Alden B. Dow Center for Creativity and Enterprise at Northwood University is pleased to announce that Ms. Lisa Thompson has been selected to serve as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Northwood NU Idea Center for the Spring 2021 term. The Entrepreneurship-in-Residence program has been developed by the Alden B. Dow Center for Creativity & Enterprise for the purpose of cultivating a mentorship relationship between successful entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial minded Northwood University students.

Lisa Thompson is the Executive Director and Founder of the non-profit Self Love Beauty Inc., co-founder of BluWave Wellbeing Inc., and host of “The Confident Podcast.” Lisa’s podcast has 500,000 listeners and is currently produced inside Timberwolf Studio, which is located in the Northwood University NU Idea Center. In addition to being a successful serial entrepreneur, Lisa is now a published author. Lisa was called to work in Haiti. After several years of being inspired by the women she met, she decided to share stories of 15 women from LaFrond, Haiti, including stories of struggle, growth, and strength.

In 2020, Lisa was nominated for the 2020 Young Professional Rising Star Award. In 2019 Lisa was presented with an “Inspiring Female Entrepreneur Award,” presented by the Northwood University Alden B. Dow Center for Creativity and Enterprise. Lisa has also been named the Greatest of the Great Lakes Bay Region Life Coach (2019). Lisa has a degree in Communications and Public Relations as well as a degree in Social Impact Strategy. Lisa is also a certified in Positive Psychology and Creating Wellbeing and is trained in mindfulness from the Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute. Additionally, she is a certified fitness instructor through NETA and SPINNING. Currently, Lisa sits on the MiHIA Adverse Childhood Experience (ACEs) steering team to build resilience in adults and children in Michigan and is part of the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition. Over the years, Lisa has worked with many Fortune 50 companies and has sat on multiple boards to give back to those that helped her in her career. In her free time, you can find Lisa with her dog Denver, or finding an adventure outdoors.
