Northwood’s Stafford Dinner Set for March 1, 2014

February 21, 2014

Northwood University’s 39th Annual Stafford Dinner will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2014, in the Hach Student Life Center on Northwood’s Michigan campus located at 4000 Whiting Drive. This dinner event is planned by an executive board comprised of Northwood students enrolled in the Hospitality Management program. These students have been planning this dinner since April 2013 and are excited to share the night with guests. The scholarship fundraiser will begin with a reception at 5:15 p.m. followed by an interactive style dinner at 6:00 p.m. and a silent auction proceeding the dinner. This year’s theme, “Winter in the Woods,” will showcase local painting and singing duo, Empty Canvas. This pair is a fun and energetic set of performing twin brothers, Mike and Scott McMath. The McMath brothers perform great covers and fun originals while designing an original painting that will be auctioned off at the end of the night. Guests will also be able to enjoy the night’s keynote speaker, Kathleen Vertin. She is a Northwood University alumna and currently serves on its board of trustees.

The dinner event honors the Hospitality Management founder, William D. Stafford. He was the first chairman of the program at Northwood Institute, which became a university in 1993. Stafford used his expertise from years in the hospitality industry and incorporated his experience into the Northwood curriculum. Proceeds from the dinner will go to the Stafford Memorial Dinner Scholarship Fund and will directly benefit the students in their educational funding.
