April 1, 2022

Northwood University is pleased to announce its provost and academic vice president has joined the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center’s board of directors.

“Given my prior work in U.S. manufacturing competitiveness and the quality arena, I am thrilled to work with the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center in this capacity,” stated Kristin Stehouwer, provost and academic vice president for Northwood University. “The Center’s work helps small to mid-sized manufacturers compete effectively in the global economy.”

The Center is an organization dedicated to supporting Michigan manufacturers to work smarter, compete, and prosper. Since 1991, The Center has helped small- and medium-sized businesses in Michigan to compete and grow. Thirty years later, The Center is celebrating three decades of helping its clients build competitive success. The Center faces the future with bountiful optimism, focused purpose, strong determination, legions of support staff, and inspired creativity.

“Competing effectively in the global economy means continuous learning and organizational transformation. The Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center exists to help manufacturers innovate, adopt new technologies, and address challenges like cybersecurity. Their work literally strengthens the Michigan economy. The Center has helped over 300 manufacturers in the past year earn over $78 million in new sales and over $238 million in retained sales,” Stehouwer said. “It’s estimated The Center has created or retained over 4,000 jobs in the last year alone.”

“The Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center is delighted to have Kristin Stehouwer join our Board of Directors,” said Mike Coast, President of The Center. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be very beneficial. She knows our national network and our Michigan statewide network very well. In addition, she understands the role of small and medium-size manufacturers in today’s world economy and the challenges that lie ahead. Northwood University is an outstanding organization, and Kristin has played a valuable role in their success. She will be a great addition to our Board.”
