On Monday, April 14, at 7 p.m., Northwood University’s Catholic Student Association will host Harry Veryser who will discuss the topic “Business as a Vocation: Integrating Faith and Work.” The lecture will take place in Griswold Lecture Hall on Northwood University’s Midland campus located at 4000 Whiting Drive. Students, alumni, faculty, staff and members of the community are invited to attend this free event.Veryser is an adjunct faculty of economics and philosophy at Northwood University. He is the author of “It Didn’t Have to be This Way: Why Boom and Bust is Unnecessary” and “How the Austrian School of Economics Breaks the Cycle.”
He received his bachelor of arts in economics and philosophy from the University of Detroit and two master of arts degrees—religious studies and in economics. Veryser has taught at Hillsdale College, St. Mary’s College, Ave Maria College, University of Detroit Mercy, Walsh College, The Thomas More College of Liberal Arts and Northwood University. Veryser has received the Teacher of the Year award from Northwood Institute (now Northwood University) in 1973, the Will Herberg Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2004, Doctor of Humane Letters from The Thomas More College of Liberal Arts in 2009 and Associate Scholar from Ludwig von Mises Institute in 2012.
