Northwood to Host Coming Home 2014

Northwood University welcomes all registered student organizations to participate in its annual Coming Home Week Monday, February 3, through Saturday, February 8. Each year at the beginning of the spring semester, Northwood hosts Coming Home Week which consists of athletic events, student competitions and philanthropy projects for faculty, students and staff. This year’s theme is “Around the World.” All week long students have the opportunity to vote for a Coming Home King and Queen from candidates nominated from their respective registered student organizations.On Monday, February 3, there will be a registered student organization half-time competition during the women’s and men’s basketball games versus Saginaw Valley State University in the Bennett Sports Center at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively. On Tuesday, February 4, there will be a banner competition held in the Bennett Sports Center at 8 p.m. In this competition, registered student organizations will be competing to produce the best banner from a bed sheet that combines their creativity and ingenuity. The competition is judged by members from the varsity basketball teams.

There will be a Hach Center competition on Wednesday, February 5, at 8 p.m. in the Hach Student Life Center. Thursday, February 6, will be the T-Wolf Showcase in the Griswold Lecture Hall at 6 p.m. On Friday, February 7, at 4 p.m. the voting for the Coming Home King and Queen concludes and at 7 p.m. there will be a Northern Lanes Bowling competition. There are women’s and men’s basketball games onSaturday, February 8, at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. respectively against Lake Superior State University in the Bennett Sports Center. At half-time the Coming Home King and Queen will be announced along with the winner of the registered student organizations weeklong competition.
