Northwood Competitive Speech Team Competes at Eastern Michigan University

The Northwood University Competitive Speech Team (Forensics) competed in the Eastern Michigan University Alumni Invitational on January 31. The 10-member team took on nationally ranked teams placing in the top five. This tournament was another win for Northwood, bumping their seasonal standing up to 54 wins.Four students made it to the finals in four events: Cody Colella, a senior from Pittsburgh, PA, placed 6th in impromptu; Taryn Rubino, a junior from Dryden, placed 6th in programmed oral interpretation; Kirk Longuski, a junior from Bay City, placed 3rd in impromptu; and Joshua Gammon, a junior from Midland, MI, placed 6th in rhetorical criticism.

The novice members (first year competitors) will continue their season at Novice States on February 8 at Hillsdale College. On February 22 and 23 the entire team will compete at the “Forensics is Beachin’” themed tournament hosted by Bowling Green University.
