Northwood Competitive Speech Team Competes at Butler University

The Northwood University Competitive Speech Team (Forensics) competed in the 13th annual Bulldog Battle in Indianapolis, IN, on January 18 hosted by Butler University. Northwood University placed 10th out of a total of 21 teams.Four team members made it to finals in five events: Kirk Longuski, a junior from Bay City, took 3rd in impromptu; Taryn Rubino, a junior from Dryden, took 5th in programmed oral interpretation; Cherell Granger, a sophomore from Gaylord, took 5th in novice impromptu and 6th in novice informative; and Trisha Oberlee, a freshman from Otter Lake, took 6th in novice Impromptu. Miranda Kennedy, a sophomore from Unionville, earned top novice in after dinner speaking.

With their current record of 50 wins and 36 losses, the team will continue their season at the Eastern Michigan University Alumni Invitational on January 31, 2014, followed by Novice States February 8 at Hillsdale College.
