New speaker series to help you recession-proof your life

Is your job secure? Are you saving enough ahead of — or during — a recession? Are you the type of leader you want to be in your industry? Is time management a struggle?

These questions and more will be answered in a one-of-a-kind series featuring experts from the DeVos Graduate School at Northwood University.

“Northwood University is a renowned business school, and as such, we are privileged to facilitate this new professional leadership series to help share our expertise with individuals at any stage of their education throughout our region, state, and beyond,” stated Dr. Matt Bennett, vice president of graduate enrollment and professional studies. “The programming we have planned is unique and engaging. It will benefit participants from all walks of life and equip them with additional tools, skills, and perspectives to support their navigation of the turbulent times ahead. Above all, this series can give participants a competitive advantage in the business marketplace.”

The following outlines the slate of speakers and topics:

Recession-Proof Your CareerJan. 18: Director of Career Services Beth Bryce will teach strategies to protect your career during an economic downturn, mitigate an extended unemployment hardship, and increase your confidence by being prepared.

Your Future … All Access PassApril 12: Dr. Lisa Fairbairn, assistant vice president, and Dr. Lorne (Todd) Thomas, associate academic dean, will outline why a master’s degree is the new bachelor’s degree — and why time management is key to getting your master’s or DBA while working full time.

Boost Your Career in the Workforce — May 10: Dr. Itauma Itauma, assistant professor, will explain how a solid understanding of business analytics can help boost your confidence in the workforce — and how an advanced degree in business analytics can boost your career.
