Lon Morey & The Morey Foundation Offer 20 Scholarships for Learning About Business Free-Enterprise Camp

April 30, 2014

Northwood University is pleased to share that Lon Morey and The Morey Foundation have partnered to offer 20 scholarships for Isabella County High School students interested in attending the unique and innovative Learning about Business camp. The week-long program will challenge students in a simulated business environment and advances the mission of The Morey Foundation to support and enrich the education, cultural, social and economic life of Isabella County.Learning about Business is about teamwork, self-discovery, communication, competition, and entrepreneurship. For high school sophomores and juniors, it is a week away from home making new friends, some for life, while networking with more than 30 local business professionals. Now in its 35th year, this award-winning program is not just for business students but for our future decision-makers and leaders.

In addition to seminars, experiential workshops and presentations from volunteer business professionals, student participants work in “company teams”, competing for supremacy in Learning about Business’s unique computer simulated marketplace. The experience provides them with an expanded world view and a fundamental grasp of the concepts of our free-enterprise system.

During Learning about Business week, June 22-27, each day has a topical focus: teambuilding & leadership, fundamentals of business, marketing, international business, management and entrepreneurship. Concurrently, Learning about Business’s computer simulated marketplace challenges students to make decisions related to the day’s topic in the hopes of winning the game.

Because of this fantastic gift of scholarships, Northwood’s Alden B. Dow Center for Creativity & Enterprise (ABDCCE) is extending the date for application to Isabella County residents to May 15.
