Kappa Sigma and The Hero’s Operation are teaming up to support veterans

November 10, 2020

Members of the Kappa Sigma fraternity will host a Veteran’s Day event Wednesday, November 11 at Northwood University to raise money for veterans.

Kappa Sigma students at Northwood University have coordinated the event with The Hero’s Operation, a private, self-funded charity organization for veterans.

The Hero’s Operation has agreed to bring several vehicles with custom wraps showcasing military units and other first responders. These vehicles include: a Super Duty Truck, a Razor, a Jeep and a Corvette. This artwork correlates with the hard work Northwood University students showcase in the Automotive Aftermarket Management and the Automotive Marketing and Management programs in a way that creatively displays the great service these men and women provide for our country.

Event attendees will also have the honor of meeting soldiers from the Midland Armory – Michigan Army National Guard and veterans from the American Sportsmen for Veterans.

Students will be raising money for veterans, via generous donations, by jumping on multiple trampolines. For every $5 raised, one of the active Kappa Sigma members will jump for one minute in order to honor those who have risked or given their lives to continue our freedom.

“Kappa Sigma has a mission, and we see this as an important way in accomplishing that mission,” said Jennifer M. Patten, Director of Automotive Technology Management and Kappa Sigma faculty advisor. “We are grateful for all and any support that helps us get the message out and money raised for this important cause.”

Northwood University was built on the foundation of several core ideas, including freedom. At Northwood, we function from a foundation of ethics, integrity and personal freedom, while ensuring others be immune from arbitrary interference on account of condition or circumstance. Honoring the service these brave individuals offered our country ties into the strength of “The Northwood Idea”.

This Veteran’s Day event will be located on Northwood University’s campus from 2-6 p.m. In the midst of the global pandemic that continues to impact our community, all campus COVID-19 guidelines will be strictly followed. Visitors can locate those guidelines at northwood.edu. Masks will be mandatory, and social distancing measures must be adhered to.
