October 3, 2022

Public invited to Power of the Market screening

Robert Chatfield, president and CEO of the Free to Choose Network, will be visiting Midland on Tuesday, Oct. 11, as part of Northwood University’s Omniquest program.

Omniquest is a university-wide program in which a committee selects a provocative and challenging book each semester. The book’s theme is then adopted for discussion and analysis during that semester within all programs.

The Fall 2022 Omniquest selection is Free to Choose: A Personal Statement by Milton and Rose Friedman.

The Friedmans have a special place at Northwood University because of their timeless work to advance free-enterprise exemplifies The Northwood Idea, which is the University’s guiding philosophy.

“Our Fall Semester Omniquest selection is Free to Choose: A Personal Statement by Milton and Rose Friedman,” stated Dr. Kristin Stehouwer, academic vice president and provost of Northwood University. “The selection committee strongly advocated for the enduring principles in Free to Choose given our economic challenges and opportunities. As president of the Free to Choose Network, Rob Chatfield is the ideal person to share how applying the Friedmans’ concepts can help us make sense of the current economic environment and inform better policy decisions.”

Part of that programming includes Chatfield’s upcoming visit, which will include a free screening of Power of the Market, part of the 10-part television series, Free to Choose. The Free to Choose Network is a non-profit global media organization brought forth from that series.

The screening will be open to the public from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Griswold Communications Center. Interested persons can also watch online here.
