The Free Market Road Show is heading to Northwood University April 2 as part of the 2024 Freedom Seminar.

โ€œThe Austrian Economics Center facilitates the Free Market Road Show to provide high-quality analyses and engaging events that highlight the importance of individual liberty, free markets, and constitutionally limited governmentโ€”all values shared by Northwood University,โ€ explained Dr. Dale Matcheck, who chairs Northwoodโ€™s economics department. โ€œWe are thrilled to have this yearโ€™s Freedom Seminar be included as a stop on the 2024 Free Market Road Show.โ€

The Northwood University Freedom Seminar is a yearly event featuring lectures and films that explore the principles of free enterprise. Distinguished academic and business leaders lead discussions on topics of great interest to local, national, and global audiences, making the seminar a platform for insightful investigations.

โ€œAll events are free and open to the public,โ€ Matcheck noted.

There will be two Free Market Road Show events on April 2 in the McNair Center for Free Enterprise, which is located within the Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center, off Naegele Drive, at Northwood University in Midland.

The first presentation begins at 9 a.m. with a panel discussing how America and Europe should deal with their environmental challenges. Panelists include Jason Hayes, director of energy and environmental policy at the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, and Nick Loris, vice president of public policy at C3 Solutions.

The second Free Market Road Show event on April 2 starts at 10:30 a.m. and features panelists discussing how America and Europe should deal with immigration and demographic challenges. Panelists include Barbara Kolm, director of the Austrian Economics Center and president of the Hayek Institute, and Dr. Alexandar Tokarev, Northwood University economics professor.

Canโ€™t make it in person? Both events will be live-streamed.

The last event of this yearโ€™s Freedom Seminar will be held April 17, featuring a panel that will discuss โ€œThe Role of Government in a Free Society: Conservative, Libertarian, and Socialist Perspectivesโ€ at 7 p.m. in Griswold Lecture Hall. Panelists include Dr. Nathan Schleuter of Hillsdale College, Dr. Robert Murphy of the Mises Institute, and Matthew Erard, J.D.
