Drug Prevention Presentations Serve as Valuable Reminder to Students

October 8, 2014

As part of its emphasis on health, wellness, and preventative programming, Northwood University Florida recently hosted guest speakers from the Narcotics Overdose Prevention and Education (NOPE) Task Force.

Providing valuable reminders relating to the importance of a healthy, drug-free lifestyle, the presentations included statistics and commentary relating to drug abuse issues and featured a parent who shared a testimonial about the loss of his child due to a drug related incident.

“This was an important presentation for our students, faculty and staff to highlight the danger of substance use and abuse among college students. Many in attendance noted how emotional the event was, especially the 911 calls, crime scene photos and personal testimonial of the parent speaker. We are fortunate to have the founding NOPE chapter minutes away from campus willing to make such a powerful presentation to our campus community,” said Michael Sawney, Academic Advisor and International Student Specialist.
