Dr. Duncan to Serve as Panelist at Education Breakfast

Northwood University Florida Campus President Dr. Tom Duncan will serve as a panelist at the Palm Beach County Business Development Board’s Education Breakfast to be held Wednesday, April 9th, 2014.Duncan will share information relating to how Northwood University curriculum and programs are serving business and industry at the panel which will focus on how area institutions fulfill workforce needs, and specifically serve Palm Beach County industries (such as business advisory councils, and curriculum tailored to specific industries).

Comprised of several Palm Beach County educational leaders, the event will also provide details relating to the branding and marketing initiatives of all public, private, charter, faith-based and K-20 schools. Also unveiled will be the Palm Beach County Business Development Board’s educational website. With the purpose of providing ease of access to top-line data about the county’s educational resources, and a portal to each individual school’s website for more in-depth information, the tool is spearheaded by the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, in partnership with the School District of Palm Beach County.

Appointed Northwood University Florida Campus President in July, 2012, Duncan previously served as President of Bethany University in Scotts Valley, California. He also taught in the Graduate Program in Higher Education at Ohio University, Athens, OH.

A Missouri native, Duncan earned his PhD. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Arizona in 2005; an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1979; the B.A. in Government from Evangel University in 1975; and a course of study in preparation for Anglican ordination with the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).

Previously, Tom served as Assistant for Education & Policy Management to Missouri Governor John Ashcroft, and as Director of the Missouri Division of Professional Registration. Given his political science and government experience, Duncan has become recognized as a valued political, economic, and social commentator for CBS, ABC, NBC, and FOX television affiliates in the Palm Beach area.

Prior to his government service, Tom was Assistant Professor of Government and Public Administration at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. He later served colleges and universities in California, Arizona, and Ohio in various faculty and administrative capacities.

In addition to his higher education service, Duncan has remained active as an Anglican minister in religious communities in Arizona, Missouri, Ohio, Wisconsin, and now Florida.
