Donors help Northwood exceed the 2024 Day of Giving goal

April 15, 2024

Thanks to donors from around the United States and the globe, Northwood University exceeded its $100,000 goal for the 2024 Day of Giving.

“This was a record-breaking year as we received the highest amount of donations in Northwood Day of Giving history,” stated Director of Annual Giving Laura Rhodes. “We are grateful for the overwhelming support as Northwood University continues to champion free enterprise while empowering individuals to pursue their passions and drive positive change through hard work, thrift, and personal responsibility.”

Day of Giving serves as a vital platform for alumni and friends of Northwood to make a meaningful impact. This year’s Day of Giving was held March 22, 2024, and participants could choose from 42 funds that support various initiatives and programs that are important to Northwood’s ongoing growth and development. Total funds raised were $101,659.59.

Other highlights from this year’s Day of Giving include:

• Participating donors totaled 300, of which 165 were new donors

• Donors came from 17 states and three different countries

• Donors supported a variety of areas, including more than $35,700 for academics, $30,800 for athletics, $23,500 for scholarships, and nearly $12,000 to The Northwood Fund and other funds.

• Tremendous support from XAM alumni and a generous anonymous donor totaled $22,000 in matching gifts.

• Northwood employees stepped up in a big way, with nearly 90 collectively donating over $16,500.

As part of this year’s Day of Giving, Northwood hosted on-campus events to help educate students about the importance of philanthropy.

“Students also learned about Northwood’s history, including our beloved co-founders Arthur Turner and Gary Stauffer, and the timeless values in The Northwood Idea, which include the importance of free enterprise, individual responsibility, limited government, and an emphasis on work and thrift as a means not only to self-development but of service to others,” added Senior Alumni and Engagement Officer Julie Adamczyk. “We thank all our students and donors who helped make this year’s Day of Giving one for the record books!”
