Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2022 with luncheon Monday

January 14, 2022

Northwood University Student Life is proud to present a Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon Monday featuring Erin Patrice, the recipient of the 2022 Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Major Award, given annually to leaders in the Great Lakes Bay region.

A native to Cincinnati, Ohio, Patrice has resided in Midland for 17 years. She is the creator and founder of The Breaking Bread Village, which is a space created intentionally for people to come together and have transparent conversations with no judgement so that people’s ideas and perspectives will be heard.

A mother, wife and community advocate, Patrice sits on the Midland County Housing Commission, Midland Area Cultural Awareness Coalition, and other boards throughout the community.

Patrice is dedicated to being a voice for those with no voice and help the unseen be seen. She believes that everything we do within our small communities are changing the world because every good deed causes a ripple effect that will eventually impact the world.

In addition to founding The Breaking Bread Village, Patrice enjoys connecting to the community through a biweekly column for the Midland Daily News. Last month, she was named the recipient of the 2022 Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Award, which was created by the Great Lakes Bay Regional MLK Celebration event committee, and the honorees are selected from Bay, Midland and Saginaw counties.

Monday’s Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the McNair Center for the Advancement of Free-Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, located on the Midland campus of Northwood University, 4000 Whiting Drive.
