BPA Team Sends 25 Students to Nationals

The Northwood University Business Professionals of America (BPA) Team achieved exceptional results as they recently competed at their state competition hosted by Davenport University.Out of the 62 Northwood University students who competed, 25  participants earned scores high enough to qualify for the BPA National competition which will be held in Anaheim, California May 6-10, 2015.

They include:

  • Paige Podskalny – 1st in Graphic Design Promotion, 2nd in Advanced Interview Skills
  • Taylor Bovee – 1st in Basic Office Systems and Procedures, 3rd in Keyboarding Production
  • Haley Koehler – 1st in Fundamental Desktop Publishing
  • Alyssa Holt – 1st in Keyboarding Production, 3rd in Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications
  • Renee Thompson – 1st in College Accounting, 2nd in Management/Marketing/HR Concepts
  • Nick Kaufmann, James Leiter, Travis Richard – 1st in Small Business Team
  • Jake Taylor – 2nd in Legal Office Procedures, 2nd in Parliamentary Pro Concepts, 4th in Banking and Finance
  • Morgan Stoewsand-Kryscio – 2nd in Fundamental Desktop Publishing, 3rd in Bus. Concepts
  • Matt Schnurr- 2nd in Presentation Management-Individual
  • Kyle Martin, Joeseph Taurence, John McGrane, Austin Lipscomb – 2nd in Video Production Team
  • Kevin Schaub – 3rd in Advanced Spreadsheet Applications, 5th in Advanced College Accounting
  • Karli Crocker – 3rd in Graphic Design Promotion
  • John McGrane – 3rd in Human Resource Management
  • Loraine Carlson – 3rd in Basic Office Systems and Procedures, 3rd in Ethics and Professionalism
  • Chris Pilon – 3rd in Digital Media Production
  • Josh Elliot – 4th in Database Applications, 4th in Legal Office Procedures
  • Mackenzie Gimple – 4th in College Payroll Accounting
  • Sophie Adams – 4th in Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications
  • Scott Loughlin – 4th in Managerial Accounting
  • John Perry – 5th in Basic Office Systems and Procedures
  • Luke Whitmer – 5th in College Payroll Accounting
  • Joe Taurence – 5th in Keyboarding Production

“Every year our students do a tremendous job of representing Northwood at the state competition, and this year was no exception,” said Julie Felske, Northwood’s BPA Group Advisor.  “I am exceptionally proud of our students who competed and won in multiple fields, and our 1st place winners who not only earned a high enough score to qualify for Nationals, but beat out all of the other competitors and took the top spots.”

The Team competed against Davenport University, the University of Michigan, Central Michigan University, Montcalm Community College, Bay College at Lake Superior State, Baker College and Adrian College.
