About the University of the Aftermarket

For nearly three decades, the University of the Aftermarket has been an integral part of the North American aftermarket, providing industry-specific professional development to those working in the industry.

University of the Aftermarket educational programs are offered:

  • On-Campus
    The University of the Aftermarket’s home is in the Sloan Family Building for Aftermarket Studies, a state-of-the-art classroom facility on Northwood University’s residential campus in Midland, MI. In addition, Northwood’s campus features hotel and catering facilities so every aspect of program support is easy and convenient. 
  • Online
    Our Distance Education program offers in-depth, semester-long business skills classes taught by Northwood University faculty.
  • On-the-Job
    We collaborate with companies, associations, and groups throughout the motor vehicle aftermarket to create custom industry-specific educational programs. 

Professional Designations

Participation in University of the Aftermarket can lead to professional designations for those who have completed specific educational requirements.

  • Automotive Aftermarket Professional (AAP): Anyone working in the motor vehicle aftermarket is eligible. Click here for the AAP requirements.
  • Master Automotive Aftermarket Professional (MAAP): Anyone working in the motor vehicle aftermarket is eligible. Click here for the MAAP requirements.
  • Automotive Content Professional (ACP): Created in collaboration with the Automotive Content Professionals Network. Only professionals engaged in content/catalog management are eligible for the ACP designation. Click here for the ACP requirements.
