About the University of the Aftermarket
For nearly three decades, the University of the Aftermarket has been an integral part of the North American aftermarket, providing industry-specific professional development to those working in the industry.

The University of the Aftermarket’s home is in the Sloan Family Building for Aftermarket Studies, a state-of-the-art classroom facility on Northwood University’s residential campus in Midland, MI. In addition, Northwood’s campus features hotel and catering facilities so every aspect of program support is easy and convenient.
Our Distance Education program offers in-depth, semester-long business skills classes taught by Northwood University faculty.
We collaborate with companies, associations, and groups throughout the motor vehicle aftermarket to create custom industry-specific educational programs.
Participation in University of the Aftermarket can lead to professional designations for those who have completed specific educational requirements.
- Automotive Aftermarket Professional (AAP): Anyone working in the motor vehicle aftermarket is eligible. Click here for the AAP requirements.
- Master Automotive Aftermarket Professional (MAAP): Anyone working in the motor vehicle aftermarket is eligible. Click here for the MAAP requirements.
- Automotive Content Professional (ACP): Created in collaboration with the Automotive Content Professionals Network. Only professionals engaged in content/catalog management are eligible for the ACP designation. Click here for the ACP requirements.
