Why We Celebrate Constitution Day

On September 17, 1787, delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the United States Constitution in Philadelphia, creating a new framework of government built around representative government, separation of powers, and limitations on government authority.

Constitution Day invites Americans to learn more about this founding document and consider both the freedoms it protects and the responsibilities that come with citizenship.

At Northwood, these conversations extend beyond a single day. Our commitment to freedom, individual responsibility and enterprise challenges students to think critically about the institutions and ideas that make a free and flourishing society possible.
