Services Offered

We know finding a job can be tough, but we are here to help! We provide students and alumni with multiple services to help you along in your job search. Here are some of the services offered:

Career Counseling

We aim to help you think about what it is you want to do in terms of short and long-term employment. Together we can create a career plan based on industry information, or simply identify elements that you value in a job. We will look at skills, talents, interests, passions, and/or values as well as the current employment landscape.

Résumé and Cover Letter Assistance

According to Martin Yate, CPC and author of Knock ‘em Dead - The Ultimate Job Search Guide, “Your resume is the most financially important document you will ever own. When it works, the doors of opportunity open for you. When it does not work, you do not either.” (2016)

We will review your résumé or cover letter to ensure nothing is left out, the formatting is correct and it is ready to go!

Internship Information Sessions

We provide monthly information sessions on the two types of internships at Northwood and how you prepare and search for leads.

MBTI® (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Personality Assessment

Our Career Advancement staff are certified to administer and review the MBTI® Career Report to help you understand your natural preferences on four dichotomies:

- Extraversion | Introversion (How you get your energy.)
- Sensing | Intuition (How you take in information about the world around you.)
- Thinking | Feeling (How you like to make decisions.)
- Judging | Perceiving (How you prefer to organize your life.)

Understanding your Myers-Briggs type is self-affirming, encourages cooperation with others, and provides direction on careers that are a natural 'fit' for type.

LinkedIn Profile

According to Ron Nash, renowned Career Coach, LinkedIn expert, and author of The Big Aha “If you do not exist on LinkedIn, you do not exist, professionally speaking” (2015).

We will assist you in developing a basic profile that brands you professionally. In addition, we can connect you to resources to help you further utilize the #1 social networking platform for professionals.

Interview Preparation | Mock Interview

Have an important interview coming up? Need to brush up your interviewing skills? Let us schedule a mock interview to take you through the interview process.
