Sue Cook

Sue Cook has been the president of the New York City Opera Guild. Her husband, Robert Allen Cook, is an engineer. They have three children and several grandchildren. Mrs. Cook was educated at the Albany Academy for Girls and Albany State College. She studied vocal music with Estelle Liebling, Max Klein and Eleanor McLellan. Her career included principal operatic roles for stage and television. She has hosted her own television show and served as a record reviewer for the Albany Times Union, as well. She has been involved as a voluntary leader in the arts in Albany, Saratoga and New York City and on the national level for many years. Among her many important associations: the New York Foundation for the Arts, the American Symphony Orchestra League and the Richard Allen Carter Center for the Arts, all of which she has served as trustee. For these contributions, she was named Woman of the Year by the Albany Times Union, cited by the National Federation of Music Clubs for “service to the arts” and recognized by many other organizations.
