Florence “Dinghy” Spaulding Sharp

Dr. Dinghy Sharp is a learning consultant, author and speaker who devoted her personal and professional career to furthering the education of youth. Dinghy taught Special Education for forty-four years. She holds a B.A. from Albion College in Elementary Education, an M.A. from Northwestern University in Speech/Language Pathology, an M.S. from Northwestern University in Audiology, an MS from Wayne State University in Clinical Psychology, an M.A.T. from Oakland University in Reading/Learning Disabilities and an Ed.D from the University of Michigan in Special Education. She was elected to Delta Kappa Gamma International, an educational honorary fraternity, and is the creator of the Bucket Brigade Tutorial Program, a tutoring concept used in schools throughout the world. Dinghy has received honors from Jaycee Women of Michigan, the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, the Distinguished Alumni Award from Albion College, the President’s Award of the National Association of Learning Disabilities and the Michigan Teachers Hall of Fame. Dr. Sharp retired to pursue a career as a speaker for education in-services for the International Reading Association, the National Council for Exceptional Children, the national and state associations of learning disabilities and PTA conferences. For years, she directed a summer camp for learning disabled children and worked for the Michigan Scouting program. She is now a professional storyteller and has established story telling groups in the high schools of Detroit and Detroit Children’s Hospital.
