The Honorable Nettie H. Seabrooks

As the City of Detroit deputy mayor and chief administrative officer, Ms. Seabrooks is responsible for legislative coordination on the federal, state and city levels. She also has responsibility for a number of city departments, including the Cable Commission, City Airport, Civic Center, Communications and Creative Services department, Detroit Historical Museums, Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit Zoo, Municipal Parking and major special projects. Prior to serving the city, Ms. Seabrooks was director of government relations for General Motors Corporation’s North American passenger car platforms and had been with GM for thirty-one years. She was appointed to her city position in January 1994 by Mayor Dennis Archer. Ms. Seabrooks has a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Marygrove College and an M.A. in Library Science from the University of Michigan. She is a member of the boards of Music Hall, Barat Child and Family Services, the Detroit Institute of Art Friends of African and African-American Art, Detroit Medical Center and Karmanos Cancer Institute.
