Margaret Donnelley is President Emeritus of the Mental Health Association of Palm Beach County and serves as a member of the National Mental Health Association’s Board of Directors. For the past thirty years she has dedicated herself to full-time volunteer work on behalf of mental health and human service needs, laboring to raise consciousness and funds for improved care and expanded programs in mental health. Thanks to her efforts as General Chairman for the past 24 years, the Liberty Bell Gala, which benefits the Mental Health Association of Palm Beach County, has become one of Palm Beach County’s major fundraising events. Among the many awards she has received are Volunteer of the Year Award from the National Mental Health Association, the Mental Health Association of Florida and the Palm Beach County Kidney Association. She has also received the National Mental Health Association’s National Volunteer Service and President’s Award, the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Community Service Award, the Executive Women of the Palm Beaches’ Women in Leadership Voluntary Sector Award, the Comprehensive Alcoholism Rehabilitation Programs’ Special Volunteer Services Award, Northwood University’s Distinguished Woman and Silver Circle Awards, the Salvation Army’s Heart of Gold Award, and 1991 was the readers’ selection as Palm Beach Life magazine’s Annual Best of Everything Awards, Best Volunteer Award!, the Legal Aid Society’s Pro Bono Community Service Award and Palm Beach Illustrated‘s Fashion 4 Charity Honoree Award. Since 1982, the Mental Health Association of Palm Beach County has presented Margaret with ten awards for outstanding service. Margaret Donnelley has also given of herself to many other organizations.
