Lynne Meadow

Lynne Meadow has been Artistic Director of the Manhattan Theatre Club since 1972. Ms. Meadow has produced over one hundred American and world premieres by American and international playwrights. Productions have included Terrence McNaly’s “Love! Valour! Compassion!,” “Four Dogs and A Bone” by John Patrick Shanley and Beth Henley’s “Crimes of the Heart.” Ms. Meadow has directed over a dozen New York premiere plays by such writers as Alan Ayckbourn, Simon Gray and David Edgar. Under Ms. Meadow’s guidance, MTC productions garnered many laurels including five Tony Awards, two Pulitzer Prizes, thirty Obie Awards, thirteen Drama Desk Awards, as well as New York Drama Critics Circle, Outer Critics Circle, Theatre World and Audelco awards. A cum laude graduate of Bryn Mawr, where she served on the Board of Trustees, Ms. Meadow attended the Yale School of Drama. She is the recipient of a 1989 Torch of Hope Award and the 1992 Person of the Year Award from the National Theatre Conference. Ms. Meadow served on the board of the Theatre Communications Group and the advisory panels of the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts and the Fund for New American Plays. Lynne is married to Ronald Shechtman, a partner in the law firm of Pryor, Cashman, Sherman and Flynn.
