In addition to being mother and friend to her entrepreneurial-spirited children, daughter Carole Ann-Marie, [a Northwood University graduate and former Miss USA] and son Andrew, Joan Gist has devoted time and energy to numerous youth oriented organizations and activities in her church and community. She has served on the Youth Board of her local congregation and has assumed an active role in the Detroit Metropolitan Girl Scouts. Over the years, she has also given of her time to education through the Parent Teacher Association and has been active with the American Red Cross. In the business realm, Joan holds membership in Black Women Entrepreneurs. She has also served as chairperson of the City of Detroit Elections. Professionally Mrs. Gist is in legal support services, specializing in corporate, labor and international law. Joan graduated from Wayne County Community College and attended the American Institute for Paralegal Studies.
