Sandy Smith, President of Sandy Smith, Inc., is a residential and commercial interior designer in Dallas. In addition to her design projects in the U.S., Sandy has worked in Japan, Taiwan and Mexico. She is listed in Who’s Who in Interior Design. Sandy has been involved in many civic organizations including TACA (arts center) of Dallas, the Dallas Symphony Guild, Buckner Baptist Children’s Home Guild and the Arthritis Foundation. As an active supporter and volunteer for Northwood, Sandy served as the Gala chairman and the chair of the Dallas chapter of Northwood’s National Women’s Board. Sandy is married to R.J. Smith, Jr., chairman of Northwood’s Texas Board of Governors and a member of the Board of Trustees. The Smiths were first introduced to Northwood in 1966 through the founders of the college, Drs. Turner and Stauffer. Sandy states, “We were so impressed with the philosophy of the college, we have been supporters ever since that time. Northwood moves with the times and never has there been such a time for the Northwood Idea to be taught to our youth and to the youth of the countries that are fighting for a democratic, private enterprise society.” A native Texan, Sandy attended Abilene Christian College and Southern Methodist University.
