Florence Henderson

January 1, 1996

1996 – Marina del Rey, California

Florence Henderson’s multifaceted career encompasses three decades of extraordinary work on stage, screen and television, earning her the respect (and love) of millions of fans of all ages. The youngest of ten children in a close-knit Midwestern family, her acting career began at age 17 and she has appeared in a long list of legendary Broadway roles, as a star of television variety shows and recently as a cooking/talk show host…a tribute to her versatility. Although known around the world for her role on television’s “The Brady Bunch”, her career has flourished because of her talent, professionalism and universal appeal. As an actress and a singer, author and talk show host, her sincerity, enthusiasm and commitment to quality have made Florence one of the most highly esteemed performers of our time. Her story goes beyond show business, as well. She began to notice a hearing loss during her run in “The King and I”. The situation progressed almost to the point of deafness before a hereditary condition called otosclerosis was discovered and corrected through surgery. Her recovery has led to a long association with the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles. Other of her many humanitarian activities include fourteen years as a national host of the United Cerebral Palsy Telethon and fundraising for the City of Hope. Florence’s husband, Dr. John Kappas, is a renowned hypnotherapist and Florence is a certified hypnotherapist herself. The Kappas live on a seventy-five foot yacht in Marina del Rey, California.
