Alexandra Stoddard

Alexandra Stoddard is an acclaimed interior designer and philosopher of contemporary living. Her unique insights inspire a large international following, and have resulted in appearances on the Barbara Walter’s Today Show, Oprah Winfrey and Katie Couric’s Today Show, as well as a national television series and feature articles in worldwide publications. In 1995 she became host on the Home and Garden Television network for “Home Across America.” She was the first female member of the board of directors of Fieldcrest Cannon, Inc., and commencement speaker at the New York School of Interior Design in 1996. Alexandra Stoddard has published 21 books of inspiring and practical wisdom, most recently: “Open Your Eyes: 1000 Simple Ways to Bring Beauty Into Your Life and Home Each Day” and “Feeling At Home: Defining Who You Are and How You Want to Live”. Twenty-two years ago, after her mentor Eleanor McMillen Brown retired, she started her own design firm, Alexandra Stoddard Incorporated. In 1997, Ms. Stoddard participated in the twenty-fifth annual Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club Decorator Show House in New York City to benefit inner city children. She had participated in the inaugural Kips Bay Boys Club Show House in 1972, the first event of its kind and now the prototype for all designer show houses. Alexandra Stoddard lives in New York City and Connecticut, with her husband, Peter Megargee Brown. She has two daughters, Alexandra B. Stoddard, and Brooke Stoddard. She is the founder and President of Design & Art Society, Ltd., and a Dame of the American Society of the Order of St. John, designated by Queen Elizabeth II.
