Annette Sykora, dealer principal of Smith Ford Mercury in Slaton, Texas, and Smith South Plains Ford, Lincoln-Mercury, Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep in Levelland, Texas, is 2008 chairman of the franchised new-car dealers of northern Texas on the association’s board of directors. A third generation new-car dealer since 1989 and a member of the NADA board since 1999; Sykora currently chairs the Executive Committee and serves on the Guide Company board of directors. Sykora is a trustee on the National Automobile Dealer’s Charitable Foundation Board. Previously, she chaired NADA’s Public Affairs Committee, the ATAE/NADA committee and has been a member of the Finance Committee. Active in her community, Sykora is the former chair of the Finance Committee of the First United Methodist Church of Slaton and a board member of the Slaton Chamber of Commerce. She also currently serves on the Greater Texas Ford Dealer Advertising Fund board. Annette Sykora was appointed by the Texas Workforce Commission to serve on the board of directors of WorkSource of the South Plains from 2005-2007. While on the WorkSource board, she served on the Oversight and Strategic planning committees. In 1993, Sykora was named Boss of the Year by the Slaton Chamber of Commerce, and in 2005 was named Chamber member of the year. The National Automobile Dealers Association, founded in 1917 and based in McLean, Va., represents approximately 20,000 new car and truck dealers, holding over 43,000 separate franchises, both domestic and import.
