Eleanor Currie

Eleanor Currie has made outstanding contributions to Northwood in all phases of its development, but in particular in Midland since the beginning of that campus in 1962. She has hosted numerous celebrities and other visitors to the college and has also supported the college’s activities in other areas such as Detroit and Texas. Mrs. Gilbert A. Currie was graduated from Midland High, Midland, Michigan and attended Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri and Albion College, in Michigan. Her late husband, Gilbert A. Currie, was a practicing attorney in Midland with the firm of Currie and Kendall. He was a member of the Northwood Board of Trustees and held several positions on the board including chairman of the development program. The Curries are parents of twin daughters and two sons. Eleanor Currie has been a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, the Lawyers’ Wives of Midland County, the Women’s Auxiliary of MidMichigan Medical Center and the Women’s Golf Association of Midland Country Club. “Northwood has a good, sound and practical program,” she states, “which is shown by the success of the students of this unique college.”
