January 1, 1971

1971 – Dallas, Texas

Jodie Miller Biddle is a member of a pioneer East Texas family which settled in the 1800s. Her father was a banker and land owner. Her late husband, Royal C. Miller, who was in the hotel and land investment business, was the grandson of W.B. Miller who arrived in Dallas in 1847 and built the famed and recently restored Millermore, one of the first of that city’s grand houses. The log cabin in which W.B. Miller lived during Millermore’s construction became the first school in Dallas. Jodie Biddle’s keen interest in history prompted its donation to the city of Dallas and it is now located in the city park next to the restored Millermore. Jodie Miller was married in 1973 to George E. Biddle of Philadelphia and Rancho Sante Fe, California. He passed away in 1991. She has been a member of the board of directors of TACA, Inc. (arts center), the Dallas Civic Opera and the Dallas Symphony Association, Inc. A talented artist, she has had four one-woman shows in La Jolla and a very successful show in October of 1993 at the Betty Gertz Gallery in Dallas. (Deceased 2003)
