Jane N. Lanphar

January 1, 1972

1972 – Farmington, Michigan

Jane Lanphar was well known in Detroit for her many activities and shared her enthusiasm for Northwood with her husband, William L. Lanphar, a Trustee Emeritus of the University. Jane and her husband had three children, one of whom, Dyke, graduated from Northwood University. Jane Lanphar was completely “sold” on the values of a good education. In high school, she was a National Honor Society student and class salutatorian. With keen interest, she pursued her college specialty in textiles and clothing, earning a B.S. and M.A. at Michigan State University. During college, she furthered her studies by becoming a laboratory assistant in textile chemistry. The Lanphars shared an interest in antiques and traveled extensively. Mr. Lanphar served as chair of the Northwood University Board of Trustees Finance Committee for many years. (Deceased 1996)
