Ann H. Kidd

Ann Hughes Kidd was born in Woodford County, Kentucky. She attended school at Friends’ Select, Pennsylvania and in Munich, Germany. Later, she pursued studies of art in Italy and in Switzerland with Wald House Films-Suiss. Her art interests led to an involvement with the fashion industry, culminating in a position with Lord and Taylor in New York. Interior decorating and designing were also among her vocations and avocations. Her late husband, Barron Kidd, was a native Texan. They had one son. A scholarship named for Barron and Ann Kidd enabled students to attend the annual Northwood/IASTA Musical Theatre Studio, a special interest of Mr. and Mrs. Kidd. During the World War II years, Ann Kidd served with the Navy League, receiving honors for her assistance and efforts on behalf of that organization. She was a member of the National Board of the YWCA, the Northwood National Women’s Board, the Texas Women’s Committee, the Contemporary Arts Committee and the World Service Council. Her interests in the arts were reflected in her active support of the development of the Northwood Contemporary Arts Program, particularly on the Cedar Hill, Texas campus. (Deceased 1993)
