Mary Elizabeth Hart

Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Hart is a well-known sculptor who has won numerous awards and citations for her work in juried exhibitions across the country. Mrs. Hart has shown her work in New York City, Washington, DC and other centers of the fine arts. In 1988, she completed two six-foot figures for the Texas Walk, Sea World of Texas, San Antonio. She has works in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery and the Smithsonian, and has completed six bronzes for the executive offices of the national Boy Scout headquarters; an over life-size bronze for the rotunda of A. Webb Roberts Hospital, Baylor University; and a bronze of the director, National Greek Theater, Athens, Greece. Awards include the Gold Medal of Honor, Hudson Valley 40th Annual National Exhibit in New York City, Best of Show, Texas Fine Arts Association and the Four Man Show Award, University of Texas. Her interests have led her to the board of the Dallas Theater Centre, coordination of all printed material for TACA, membership on Northwood’s Women’s Board, the advisory board of the National Sculpture Center, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League, the Art Museum League and the Museum of Fine Arts. She and her husband, the late Dr. James Hart, were civic leaders in Dallas and Northwood supporters for many years. Mrs. Hart continues their attachment to the college. (Deceased, 2008)
