Dr. Dorothy E. Gregg

Dr. Dorothy Gregg was senior consultant of Research and Forecasts, Inc. and to the Ruder, Finn and Rotman public relations firm. She was Vice President-Communications of Celanese Corporation for eight years. Prior to joining Celanese, she was Assistant to the Director of Public Relations at U.S. Steel Corporation, a pioneering position she held for sixteen years. Dr. Gregg has been an assistant professor in Columbia University’s Economics department and on the faculty of Barnard College, The New School for Social Research, Pace College and the University of Texas. Dr. Gregg was a member of CEPAK (advisory group to the superintendent at the US Military Academy at West Point), the West Point Society of New York, the board of governors of the International Women’s Forum and the New York Women’s Forum. She was a member of the board and vice president of WREI (Women’s Research & Education Institute), U.S. Woman’s Congressional Caucus, a former president of WICI (Women in Communication) and secretary and on the board of WNYC-TV. Dr. Gregg received the American Advertising Federation’s National Advertising Woman of the Year Award in 1968. She served as president of the New York chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and treasurer of the National Council of Women of the United States. A graduate of the University of Texas with BA and MA degrees in economics, Dr. Gregg earned her Ph.D. in the same discipline from Columbia University. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Gregg and her husband, Dr. Paul Hughling Scott, had two children. (Deceased 1997)
