After attending Drexel Institute, Columbia University, Hunter College and the University of Michigan, Clara Brucker was employed by E.I. du Pont, Wilmington, Delaware and by General Motors in Detroit and New York, working in the Management Statistical Department. She became an active assistant to her late husband, Wilber M. Clara Brucker’s acquaintance with world figures from many nations made her expert in government and protocol. Founder, in 1939, of the School of Government, Detroit, she was its educational director for more than twenty-five years and served as program coordinator and member of the board. The Mock Conventions and May Day Luncheons she instituted in Detroit have won national acclaim. Mrs. Brucker was a fascinating speaker and writer. In 1968, her book, “To Have Your Cake and Eat It”, won favorable reviews. After serving thirty-eight years on the board of Children’s Aid of Detroit, Mrs. Brucker became an honorary member of the board. For years she supported a youthful Northwood by annual, personal benefits she held to assist the growth of the campuses. (Deceased 1980)
