1973 – Saginaw, Michigan & Stuart, Florida

For many years, Helen Kretschmer Meyer directed the public relations activities for Kretschmer Wheat Germ Corporation, of which her late husband, Charles H. Kretschmer, Jr., was founder and president. She later was named secretary and vice president of the corporation. During and since that time Helen has contributed freely of her time and talents to children’s hospital work. She has been a member of the board of directors of the Children’s Free Ward at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw and a member of the Northwood National Women’s Board, Saginaw chapter. Her other memberships have included the Women’s National Farm and Garden Association, the Saginaw Club, the League of Catholic Women, the Saginaw Art Museum, associate member of the Ambassador Club in Stuart, Florida, the Saginaw Choral Society and the Saginaw Historical Society. Helen has three daughters. On September 4, 1990 she married Robert R. Meyer. He was vice president of engineering for Monroe Auto Equipment Company, which was founded by his father and is now a subsidiary of Tenneco Corporation. “I first became familiar with Northwood through a friend who told me of the variety of subjects that Northwood offered. It has always been my contention that being able to specialize in one field was more important than knowing a little about many subjects,” says Mrs. Meyer, in explaining her support of and interest in the school.
