Helen Buchanan

A graduate of Wayne State University’s College of Education, Helen Buchanan taught school in the Detroit Public Schools and worked with handicapped persons for more than a decade. The wife of attorney G. Cameron Buchanan, a former president of the Detroit College of Law, Helen spent much of her time and talents fulfilling the many social and civic responsibilities her position as First Lady of the school demanded. Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan were the parents of two children. A woman who totally believed in “getting involved,” Mrs. Buchanan was a member of the Women’s National Farm and Garden Association, the Rosedale Progressive Club, the Bushnell Discussion Group, the Lawyers’ Wives of Michigan, the Oakland County Bar Association Auxiliary, the Birmingham Country Club, the Detroit Athletic Club, the Detroit Club and the Michigan Federation of China Painters.
